Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helps people learn how to identify and change the destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on their behavior and emotions.
Cognitive behavioral therapy can be used as a short-term treatment to help individuals learn to focus on present thoughts and beliefs.
CBT is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including:
In addition to mental health conditions, cognitive behavioral therapy has also been found to help people cope with:
-
Chronic pain or serious illnesses
-
Divorce or break-ups
-
Grief or loss
02.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a short-term form of therapy that focuses on adult relationships and attachment / bonding. The therapist and clients look at patterns in the relationship and take steps to create a more secure bond and develop more trust to move the relationship in a healthier, more positive direction.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a well-known humanistic approach to psychotherapy formulated in the 1980’s and developed in tandem with the science of adult attachment, a profound developmental theory of personality and intimate relationships. This science has expanded our understanding of individual dysfunction and health as well as the nature of love relationships and family bonds. Attachment views human beings as innately relational, social and wired for intimate bonding with others. The EFT model prioritizes emotion and emotional regulation as the key organizing agents in individual experience and key relationship interactions.
Couples and families in distress can benefit from EFT and learn to improve their relationships. Often, clients are dealing with anger, fear, loss of trust, or sense of betrayal in their relationship. EFT has also been proven effective for couples who are having trouble coping with their own illness or that of a child. In addition to helping the distressed relationship, EFT can also help reduce individual symptoms of depression or trauma.

Family and Couples therapy is a type of psychotherapy focused on helping a couple work through challenges, understand their relationship better, and develop healthier ways of relating to one another. The therapist uses specific therapeutic techniques and interventions to support the couple's goals.
Many couples come to couples therapy because they're dealing with a specific challenge, such as communication issues, affairs, or considering a breakup.
During treatment, the therapist will help the couple gain insight into the relational dynamics creating the problem and guide both partners to understand their roles in the dysfunctional interactions. This greater insight on relationship issues and distress will help them change the way they perceive the relationship and each other.
Although gaining insight is important, another crucial aspect of couples therapy involves actually changing behaviors. Couples therapists will often assign partners homework to apply the skills they have learned in therapy to their day-to-day interactions.
Most couples come away from therapy with greater knowledge of their relational patterns and with the necessary skills to effectively communicate and problem-solve .

Therapy might occur on a one-to-one, group, or family basis depending on the needs of the individual. It is usually intensive at the outset of treatment with the number of sessions gradually reducing over time as symptoms improve.
Different types of therapy include:
-
cognitive-behavioral therapy, which helps people recognize and change ways of thinking that have associations with substance use.
-
multi-dimensional family therapy, designed to help improve family function around an adolescent or teen with a substance-related disorder
-
motivational interviewing, which maximizes an individuals willingness to change and make adjustments to behaviors
-
motivational incentives that encourage abstinence through positive reinforcement
Counseling for addiction aims to help people change behaviors and attitudes around using a substance, as well as strengthening life skills and supporting other treatments.
Some forms of treatment for addictive disorders focuses on the underlying cause of the addictive disorder in addition to behaviors characteristic of the addiction.
Online therapy can help with long-term addiction support

Dyslexia is a learning disability in reading. People with dyslexia have trouble reading at a good pace and without mistakes. They may also have a hard time with reading comprehension, spelling, and writing. But these challenges aren’t a problem with intelligence.
Signs of dyslexia can be difficult to recognize before your child enters school, but some early clues may indicate a problem. Once your child reaches school age, your child's teacher may be the first to notice a problem. Severity varies, but the condition often becomes apparent as a child starts learning to read.
Before school
Signs that a young child may be at risk of dyslexia include:
-
Late talking
-
Learning new words slowly
-
Problems forming words correctly, such as reversing sounds in words or confusing words that sound alike
-
Problems remembering or naming letters, numbers and colors
-
Difficulty learning nursery rhymes or playing rhyming games
School age
Once your child is in school, dyslexia symptoms may become more apparent, including:
-
Reading well below the expected level for age
-
Problems processing and understanding what is heard
-
Difficulty finding the right word or forming answers to questions
-
Problems remembering the sequence of things
-
Difficulty seeing (and occasionally hearing) similarities and differences in letters and words
-
Inability to sound out the pronunciation of an unfamiliar word
-
Difficulty spelling
-
Spending an unusually long time completing tasks that involve reading or writing
-
Avoiding activities that involve reading
Teens and adults
Dyslexia signs in teens and adults are a lot like those in children. Some common dyslexia symptoms in teens and adults include:
-
Difficulty reading, including reading aloud
-
Slow and labor-intensive reading and writing
-
Problems spelling
-
Avoiding activities that involve reading
-
Mispronouncing names or words, or problems retrieving words
-
Spending an unusually long time completing tasks that involve reading or writing
-
Difficulty summarizing a story
-
Trouble learning a foreign language
-
Difficulty doing math word problems

Mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders in childhood can cause long-term problems that may affect the health and well-being of children, families, and communities. Treating a child’s mental health problems as soon as possible can help children reduce problems at home, in school, and in forming friendships. It can also help with healthy development into adulthood.
A public health approach to children’s mental health includes promoting mental health for all children, providing preventive intervention to children at risk, and providing treatment for children with identified disorders. Psychological therapy is a key component to improving mental health.
08.
Play therapy is a form of therapy used primarily for children. That’s because children may not be able to process their own emotions or articulate problems to parents or other adults.
Through play, children can learn new coping mechanisms and how to redirect inappropriate behaviors.
Some of the potential benefits of play therapy are:
-
taking more responsibility for certain behaviors
-
developing coping strategies and creative problem-solving skills
-
self-respect
-
empathy and respect for others
-
alleviation of anxiety
-
learning to fully experience and express feelings
-
stronger social skills
-
stronger family relationships
Play therapy can also encourage use of language or improve fine and gross motor skills.
If your child has a diagnosed mental or physical illness, play therapy doesn’t replace medications or any other necessary treatments. Play therapy can be used alone or alongside other therapies.
09.
When kids draw they use a dose of imagination, paired with their real life experiences. Unlike adults, who think too deeply about everything, children do not sensor their artwork based on what people might think of it. Typically, they just draw whatever comes to mind; this is what makes kids’ artwork extremely telling. Since kids love to draw and do so often, art is a method of physiological analysis that is readily available and easy to obtain.
When a child draws a picture of their family they include a lot of telling information, such as their relationship with their parents, how they feel at home, and more. The way a child interprets their family can be identified in the details of their drawing.
When a home is loaded with chaos, parents have less time to spend with their children and parent child interactions are likely to be interrupted just as a child starts having fun.

Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-R) Intelligence Test
WISC–R (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children) is basically an intelligence test to measure children’s intelligence levels and to obtain information about their mental development.
WISC-R intelligence test was first designed for adults by psychologist David Wechsler in 1939 and then developed to measure children‘s intelligence level. Test content includes verbal and non-verbal problems, ranging in difficulty from very easy to very difficult.
The verbal test contents measure vocabulary and general knowledge, while the non-verbal part measures judgment, such as sorting, repeating, arranging numbers, creating stories from pictures.
The verbal part of the WISC-R test measures the child’s :
-
Cognitive Ability,
-
School Knowledge,
-
Social Judgment, and short- and long-term memory, and determines the level of mental development according to age.
In the performance section, cognitive areas such as the child’s ability to work within the time limit, psychomotor and visual skills, the ability to think abstractly, the ability to cope with new stimuli, sequencing skills, and evaluating the perception of shapes.

It’s important to know that the MMPI isn’t a standardized test in the usual sense. It doesn’t use percentile ranks that indicate how well you did on the test. It’s not a test you either pass or fail.
The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) is a psychological test that assesses personality traits and psychopathology. It is primarily intended to test people who are suspected of having mental health or other clinical issues. Although it was not originally designed to be administered to non-clinical populations, it can be used to assess psychological stability in workers in ‘high-risk’ professions such as airline pilots, police or workers in the nuclear power industry
12.
There are two main types of personality tests, each of which works differently.
Psychologists may use these to help identify hidden or unconscious emotional issues that prevent a person from leading a full and happy life, such as fears or doubts. Employers may use these tests to try to determine whether or not someone's personality will fit well within the established team.
Projective personality tests give subjects a chance to respond to stimuli independently, which means they are highly subjective, and the results depend on both the honesty of the individual and analysis of the psychologist. While they are useful, sometimes a more standardized approach is required.
An objective personality test exposes subjects to a series of questions with restricted answers, such as true/false or scale rating. These personality tests are meant to evaluate multiple dimensions of a person's personality based on statistical analysis of their responses.

Family constellation therapy is a therapeutic intervention that a therapist might use in order to gain insight and information into a client’s family history, dynamics, and possible dysfunctional patterns. German therapist Bert Hellinger developed this intervention based on components of Gestalt therapy, psychodynamic therapy, as well as other eclectic influences.
When utilizing the family constellation, the therapist has people who are not related to the client take on roles of various family members to act out dynamics related to the client’s concerns.
This technique is considered a form of expressive therapy, and the goal is to help the client work through a concern or develop better insight into a conflict.
Types of Family Constellations
Since a traditional family constellation involves humans standing in as the client’s family members, it is often done in a group setting.2 Group members can take turns as the main client and stand in for each other’s family members.
Group Setting
The therapist directs the family members’ posture, position, and words, although sometimes the activity involves minimal talking. The client might interact directly with their relatives in the constellation or stand aside and watch the interactions unfold.
Individual Setting
The family constellation can also be done individually. The client could use a sand tray or other creative expressive therapy technique, using toys or figurines to represent their various family members. Similarly, they could use art therapy techniques to draw their family tree and indicate the various dynamics within the family.
Individual family constellations do not allow the client to role-play family interactions with other physical humans, but the therapist and client can work together over a longer period of time to map out relationships and notice patterns.

Speech-language therapy is the treatment for most kids with speech and/or language disorders.
What Are Speech Disorders?
A speech disorder refers to a problem with making sounds. Speech disorders include:
Articulation disorders: These are problems with making sounds in syllables, or saying words incorrectly to the point that listeners can't understand what's being said.
Fluency disorders: These include problems such as stuttering, in which the flow of speech is interrupted by unusual stops, partial-word repetitions ("b-b-boy"), or prolonging sounds and syllables (sssssnake).
Resonance or voice disorders: These are problems with the pitch, volume, or quality of the voice that distract listeners from what's being said. These types of disorders may also cause pain or discomfort for a child when speaking.
What Are Language Disorders?
A language disorder refers to a problem understanding or putting words together to communicate ideas. Language disorders can be either receptive or expressive:
Receptive disorders are problems with understanding or processing language.
Expressive disorders are problems with putting words together, having a limited vocabulary, or being unable to use language in a socially appropriate way.
Cognitive-communication disorders are problems with communication skills that involve memory, attention, perception, organization, regulation, and problem solving.
Speech therapy assesses and treats speech disorders and communication problems. It helps people develop skills like comprehension, clarity, voice, fluency and sound production. Speech therapy can treat childhood speech disorders or adult speech impairments caused by stroke, brain injury or other conditions.

“There is no one way to eat that is right for everyone. Being a nutrition coach means being a partner in change [who] can provide answers when needed . . . or allowing the client to come to the right decision by asking the right questions.”
“Nutrition coaches work with the general population to facilitate the inclusion of healthy eating behaviors and empower their clients to take responsibility for their own health,”. “They are mentors and leaders who guide their clients toward a healthier lifestyle. To be a successful nutrition coach, individuals must possess knowledge of both nutritional science and behavior change strategies.” It is this knowledge of behavior change that makes personal trainers great candidates to become nutrition coaches.
Practical applications include the ability to “perform dietary assessments and body composition testing; demystify nutrition myths and fallacies; discuss healthy cooking options; provide guidance regarding appropriate calorie consumption for safe weight loss; teach how to read food labels; demonstrate and clarify healthy portion sizes; and provide eating strategies for consuming adequate amounts of lean protein, vegetables, fruits, legumes and dairy to promote health"
.3.
Most people associate diets with short-term weight loss and restrictive food intake. However, a diet plan is tailored to an individual’s health status, weight and lifestyle, along with their weight loss and health goals.
The diet plan acts as a bespoke template to steer your eating behaviour, exercise and lifestyle management towards optimal health and wellbeing.
.4.
Reiki therapy is based on an Eastern belief that vital energy flows through your body. The idea is that a Reiki practitioner uses gentle touch -- or places their hands just above your body -- to help guide this energy in a way that promotes balance and healing.
Reiki has been studied for conditions like pain, anxiety, and depression. It’s a complementary treatment, which means you use it along with proven traditional medical treatments. It doesn’t cure or get rid of any health conditions by itself.
Reiki is a holistic Japanese technique for stress reduction, relaxation, and spiritual healing. Rei means higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness, and Ki means life energy. Reiki, as a whole, is spiritually guided life energy. People are susceptible to illness when there is a restriction in the flow of energy and Reiki seeks to restore it.
The goal of Reiki is to quiet the mind, and it is often used in conjunction with music, aromatherapy, deep breathing, movement therapy, pet therapy, and complementary relaxation techniques. All of these modalities do not conflict with other psychiatric or medical medications.
Patients can choose how their Reiki session is administered — hands on, light touch or hands-off, or hands just above the patient’s body. It can be given sitting in a chair or lying on a massage table. Patients are fully clothed, and sessions are typically offered for various durations, individualized to what the patient can tolerate.
The researchers said that Reiki has also been found to be effective at easing anxiety, pain, and depression and at boosting quality of life and self-esteem in people with long-term health conditions.
Anyone can be treated with Reiki. No prescriptions are necessary, it will not interfere with medications, and there are no side effects.
.5.
Incorporating the use of colour with Reiki is about achieving a greater understanding of their meanings, affects on our moods & health. If a client has a particular attraction to a certain colour or a colour keeps showing up during treatment then it can help to understand the underlying feelings or issues they could be experiencing. This can be both positive and negative, for example, if they are drawn to yellow & are feeling inspired and happy then it is clear this colour is helping to enhance their feelings of joy and self-acceptance. Remember to look for the positive traits as well as any negative associations with colours by your clients.
It is important to keep in mind that all colours are beautiful and if you have an adversity to a colour then it is worth investigating why and where the distance originates from.
.6.
When crystal healing is combined with Reiki, it is like hitting the healing overdrive switch! Crystals have an innate energy of their own. They bring everything to balance and speed the body’s natural healing ability. You don’t have to do anything to get a crystal to work other than place it in your vicinity. However, if you do add your intent and your energy, your crystals will work better because they’ll pick up your intention and magnify it manyfold. And if Reiki is the energy that is flowing through you, then your crystals will collect the Reiki, multiply its effect, and focus its objective.
The benefits of Reiki and crystal healing run broad and deep – they really are both quite exciting! Emotionally and cognitively, they support self-acceptance, self-love and self-healing, leading to an increased sense of self-empowerment and capability. They also both help expand consciousness, enhance spiritual growth, increase clarity of thought and purpose and connection to our intuition and higher selves, facilitate the setting of healthy boundaries – the list goes on! Physically, they also offer broad benefits – immune system support, digestive health, and healthy sleep patterns, to name just a few.
.7.

Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health.
Aromatherapy is thought of as both an art and a science. Recently, aromatherapy has gained more recognition in the fields of science and medicine.
Aromatherapy has an array of benefits. It’s said to:
*manage pain
*improve sleep quality
*reduce stress, agitation, and anxiety
*soothe sore joints
*treat headaches and migraines
*alleviate side effects of chemotherapy
*ease discomforts of labor
*fight bacteria, virus, or fungus
*improve digestion
*improve hospice and palliative care

*Unproven claims
Scientific evidence for aromatherapy is considered to be limited in some areas. Research to support the use of aromatherapy in treating Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and heart disease is lacking.
